Speakers:


Hugo Scheckter - Founder & Managing Director of The Player Care Group will be hosting the day, including the Q&As. Hugo has run Player Care for 3 clubs for a total of 7 years at West Ham United, Southampton FC & Indy Eleven.

Mark Noble: The West Ham Sporting Director & former captain will be joining us as a keynote speaker to discuss the positive impact Player Care had on him and his time at the club - how he’s seen the role evolve over his time in football, and how he will incorporate Player Care into the club going forward. One of Mark’s first interviews since retirement: will be a fascinating listen!


Paul Mortimer - The former Premier League Player, Coach & current anti-discrimination tutor will present his groundbreaking new research, The Boy in the Man’s Mask – The Duty of Care on Football Academies, which he co-authored with Sue Parris in a joint session.

Stuart Pearce - The former Nottingham Forest, Manchester City & England U21 manager will be joining us to talk about how Player Care can best support the manager & coaching staff and how he places value on the role.

Nick Romeijn - The Sport Policy Advisor at Sports Council of Amsterdam, External PhD candidate at ESHCC will present his research on the well-being and support of expatriates in elite sports. Nick is a graduate from Cohort 10 of our ‘Certificate in Player Care’.


Ben Hawkins - The Head of Player Care at Swindon Town will be discussing how to prioritise Player Care when on a budget outside of the top clubs. Nick is a graduate from Cohort 9 of our ‘Certificate in Player Care’.

Jan Rosenthal - The former Bundesliga player of 10 years will be discussing his career and subsequent retirement from a player’s perspective, as well as how we can learn as Player Care professionals from his experiences.

Dr Michele Di Mascio - The former Head of Player Care at Sunderland AFC will host a session on ‘Building Long Term Development Plans’.


Sue Parris - The former Head of Welfare, Education & Player Care at Brighton & Hove AFC & Founder of Simply Human will be presenting her groundbreaking new research, The Boy in the Man’s Mask – The Duty of Care on Football Academies which she co-authored with Paul Mortimer in a joint session.

Lee Wood - Wigan Athletic’s hugely experienced Player Care Manager will be leading a session on “Creating an appropriate exit strategy throughout the age groups.” Lee hosts ‘The Development Locker’ podcast and was previously at Bolton Wanderers for nearly 7 years.
